At Soundarya Digital Fabric Prints, we are constantly inspired by creators who experiment with new mediums and push artistic boundaries. This month, we had the honor of working with visual artist Bhavy Trivedi, who chose to present his photography in an unconventional yet breathtaking format printed on pure chinnon silk.

Bhavy showcased his work at the Centre d’Art, Auroville, as part of the Dominique Darr Grant Exhibition. This grant honors the legacy of Dominique Darr, a Parisian photographer and founder of Centre d’Art. In line with her vision, the annual exhibition encourages young Aurovilians to explore photography as a medium and present unique perspectives around a central theme.

Exploring the Invisible & the Hidden

This year’s edition of the Dominique Darr Grant focused on the theme of “the invisible and the hidden.” Each artist presented their interpretation of truth, perception, and reality through the lens of photography. For his contribution, Bhavy presented evocative photographs captured in two remarkable locations: Tapi Bawdi, Jodhpur, and Suru Valley, Ladakh.

A Seamless Blend of Art & Textile

What set Bhavy’s exhibition apart was his choice of medium. Instead of traditional framed prints on paper, he envisioned his images flowing across fabric panels. This allowed them to interact with light, movement, and space. As a result, his photographs gained an entirely new dimension—delicate, translucent, and alive.

To bring this vision to life, Bhavy collaborated with our team at Soundarya Digital Fabric Prints. Together, we carefully curated the technical process:

  • Fabric Sourcing: After exploring options, Bhavy selected pure chinnon silk. This fabric is known for its natural transparency and fluidity, beautifully complementing his photography.

  • Reactive Printing on Silk: To ensure the colors were rich, long-lasting, and true to his original captures, we used advanced reactive digital printing. This method is ideal for natural fabrics like silk.

  • Finishing & Preparation: Each fabric panel was processed, finished, and made exhibition-ready with precision. We ensured his art was presented at the highest quality.

Our Commitment to Artists & Designers

At Soundarya Digital Fabric Prints, we believe fabric can be more than a medium for fashion or décor; it can be a canvas for storytelling. Collaborations like Bhavy’s remind us of the endless possibilities that come alive when art meets textile technology.

We are proud to have been a part of this journey, helping an artist translate his vision into reality and present it to the world in a way that was truly one of a kind.

The Impact of Art on Fabric

Art has a profound impact on how we perceive textiles. When we see a piece of fabric adorned with stunning imagery, it transcends its functional purpose. It becomes a conversation starter, a piece of history, and a reflection of the artist's vision.

The Role of Technology in Modern Art

Technology plays a crucial role in modern art. It allows artists to explore new mediums and techniques. Digital fabric printing is one such innovation. It enables artists to bring their visions to life on fabric, creating unique pieces that challenge traditional notions of art.

Sustainability in Fabric Printing

Sustainability is more important than ever in today's world. At Soundarya Digital Fabric Prints, we prioritize eco-friendly practices. We use sustainable materials and methods to ensure our impact on the environment is minimal. This commitment resonates with artists like Bhavy, who seek to make a statement through their work.

The Future of Textile Art

The future of textile art is bright. As technology advances, artists will continue to push boundaries. We can expect to see more innovative uses of fabric in art. This evolution will open new avenues for collaboration between artists and fabric printers.

In conclusion, our collaboration with Bhavy Trivedi exemplifies the fusion of art and textile technology. It highlights the potential of fabric as a medium for storytelling. We look forward to supporting more artists in their creative journeys and helping them bring their visions to life.
